UK #shipping businesses challenged by @seafarers_uk to compete for the Nautical Friday Challenge CupBy james tweed • Apr 5th, 2012 • Category: Coracle Blog
UK businesses in the world of shipping are invited by Seafarers UK to compete for the charity’s Nautical Friday Challenge Cup.
The challenge will enable companies to build teams, test their team members’ ingenuity, and importantly to have fun while also raising money for seafarers in need and their families.
Seafarers UK will invest £100 in each corporate team that undertakes the challenge, from which they must then make as much fundraising profit as possible from 1 June to Friday 29 June (Nautical Friday).
The only two rules are that teams repay at least the charity’s seed-corn investment and that all fundraising activities are legal!
The team that raises the most money by midnight on Nautical Friday will be crowned challenge champions and win the Seafarers UK Nautical Friday Cup.
Seafarers UK has created a list of fundraising ideas to get the creative juices flowing, but the charity wants teams to be as innovative as possible and apply all their skills and expertise. It is likely that the teams that raise the most money will be those who re-invest their profits by running more than one fundraising activity.
Not sure who Seafarers UK are?
Seafarers UK spends £2.5m annually supporting seafarers from the Merchant Navy, Fishing Fleets, Royal Navy and Royal Marines, and their dependants, in times of difficulty and hardship, relying on donations, fundraising and legacies to be able to do this. Nautical Friday is Seafarers UK’s annual National Fundraising Day.
