6-12 June is Seafarers Awareness Week
Coracle would like to invite you to share your seafaring story with the ShippingPodcasts audience.
Simple – just call us on + 44 207 193 3017 and leave your story on the answering machine and, assuming it’s relevant, we’ll podcast it… Or, if you prefer, leave a comment below and we’ll use our voice to share your story…
Seafarers UK is the country’s leading maritime charity which gives grants to over 70 front-line welfare charities. Each year they give £2.5m to charities in the UK and Commonwealth.
We rely on seafarers every day, but the vital role they play in our lives goes unrecognised. With 95% of UK trade arriving be sea, without seafarers and shipping our supermarket shelves would stand empty, and our fuel supplies would run dry within days.
Seafarers also face threats in order to provide for us and protect us:
Merchant Navy seafarers transport 95% of goods to the UK despite threats like piracy
Deep sea fishing is the UK’s most dangerous civilian job
Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel risk their lives defending the UK’s interests & trade routes
By asking you to share your stories, Coracle are getting involved in Seafarers Awareness Week… We’re not involved directly with raising much needed funds, but we are looking to give seafarers the recognition they deserve.
